L’Isola d’Elba è ormai per me una seconda casa. Dal lontano 2004, primo anno in cui ho messo piede in terra elbana, ad oggi, è rimasta la meta preferita del mio cuore.
Sicuramente avere una sorella che ha scelto di vivere li ha influito sul mio innamoramento, ma non c’è mai stata una volta che non ci sia tornata con il piacere di visitare quest’isola meravigliosa. Ormai mi reco sistematicamente almeno 4 volte l’anno ed ogni volta, vi assicuro, riesco a trovare nuovi scorci ed angoli da scoprire ed amare.
Con le sue acque cristalline, l’Isola d’Elba, è un piccolo gioiello incastonato nel Mar Tirreno. Sia in estate che in inverno si può godere delle sue bellissime spiagge e dell’acqua trasparente, il paesaggio è eterogeneo e proprio grazie a queste caratteristiche la rende perfetta per ogni tipologia di vacanza.
Per gli amanti del mare, si può circumnavigare in barca, ad esempio, esistono diversi servizi charter con i quali potrete organizzare una vacanza meravigliosa ed attraccare in più porti.
C’è il Monte Capanne, che con i suoi 1.019 metri d’altezza è perfetto per chi ama il trekking, la mountain-bike e l’arrampicata su roccia; mentre per gli appassionati degli sport d’acqua l’Isola può offrire bellissimi diving-tour, immersioni subacquee, surfing, pesca etc… queste sono solo alcune delle diverse attività che potrete praticare.
L’Isola d’Elba, inoltre, è ricca di testimonianze del passato, Chiese, Santuari, Torri Pisane, Fortezze Etrusche, Musei e siti archeologici ed è famosa in tutto il mondo per un grande nome della storia: Napoleone Bonaparte.
Dopo la rovinosa battaglia di Lipsia e a seguito del Trattato di Fontainbleau, Napoleone, fino a quel momento Imperatore d’Europa, fu costretto ad abdicare dal trono di Francia e accettare ben altro impero: l’Isola d’Elba.
Molti non sanno, però, che Napoleone non fu imprigionato all’Elba: egli scelse l’isola per il suo esilio e vi regnò portando più innovazioni di quante qualsiasi governo avesse mai fatto. Per la prima volta dopo secoli, l’Isola d’Elba era unita sotto un’unica bandiera (è stato l’unico momento in cui è stata unita: tutt’oggi l’amministrazione è suddivisa in ben 8 comuni).
Nel 2014 si è festeggiato il Bicentenario dell’esilio di Napoleone Bonaparte con numerosi eventi e rievocazioni storiche. Vi sono diversi siti che si possono visitare oggi all’Elba dove Napoleone soggiornò, dal Palazzo della Biscotteria alla Palazzina dei Mulini a Portoferraio, al Romitorio della Madonna del Monte dove portò la sua amante Maria Walewska.

Definitely, having a sister who chose to live there influenced my love, but no time when I come back, I didn’t have the pleasure of visiting this wonderful island.
